Another part of the theme based furniture are 'tents.' The tents are being designed by Taresh, also an intern at Flip design. He designed one tent in the 'adventure' series, which is now at the prototyping stage. While we wait for the prototype to be ready, we are working on the skin of the tent. One part of the skin required a 'bellow' form. I helped Taresh stitch the bellow for the small scale rough prototype. Here are pictures from the process.
The bellow was not made according to the size of the tent model, and so it does not fit perfectly. We shall work on the full size skin once the tent prototype is finished. The materials used for the small model is bamboo sticks along with m-seal and pins for joinery. The fabric I used for the bellow is kora cotton. The final prototype will have metal pipe as the material for the tent frame and thick cotton for the skin.
